  • Yoga and mindfulness practices support children & adolescents in navigating the world and the big emotions of these developmental years. Many of us adults wish we had had exposure to tools likes mindfulness and yoga when we were younger. These practices can support young people’s well-being and resilience throughout life’s many challenges.

When we get physically hurt there is a first aid kit to turn to but do we have a first aid kit for our mental and emotional wellbeing?

Through learning the simple breathing and mindfulness techniques within yoga practices we can empower students with tools to transform their outlook on life.

  • Amelia is passionate about introducing young people to yoga as this practice can support them in these pivotal years, giving them tools to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing.

All classes are taught in response to the needs of the group and content is adapted. However all classes will combine movement, partner poses, breathwork, mindfulness, affirmations, sounds and music.

As we arrive in class, we will take moment to settle in and connect to each other and the practice. Following this we start with moving through sun salutations, a repeated sequence of yoga poses which enable us to connect our minds to the physical body, as we align our movements to our breath. Through repeating these movements we develop our co-ordination skills and cultivate a sense of grounding and calm.

Once we are warm and focused we explore balance and strength postures. This is a very empowering section of class as though practicing balancing poses, we light-heartedly embrace failing and wobbling as fundamental part of life and an opportunity to develop resilience. We also build our core strength, body-awareness and mobility through embracing challenging postures. I will offer several options so all students can find an appropriate level of challenge some of these postures may include partner or group poses as this builds connection, community, trust and friendships.

In each class we will utilise the yogic breathwork practices which are suitable for all age groups. These breathing practices have been scientifically proven to reduce stress and calm the nervous system. These breathing practices are simple to learn and the effects are immediately felt in the mind and the body. At the end of each class, I will guide practitioners to deeply relax and enjoy the restorative benefits of their practice, often through guided relaxation scripts, and sounds or music.

At the end of class we take time to reflect, ask questions and share how we feel and what we learnt.

  • Classes are usually 45-50 minutes.

To offer sessions to multiple ages/groups there is half day & full day options available.

Discounts available for multiple full day bookings throughout the school term.

  • Amelia is an experienced yoga teacher. She is qualified, insured and DBS checked.
